I was born and raised in Michigan, and now I reside in Los Angeles. I'm a 32-year-old Capricorn living with my husband and one gray cat named Zipper. Sometimes when my friends tell stories about their babies, I throw in a good cat story to keep things balanced. I am a graphic designer by day and a freeform stuff maker by night. Whenever I see a fabric swatch from the late sixties or vintage Scandinavian cookware, my heart beats a bit faster. I love to paint, draw, sew and constantly rework the look and feel of all the rooms in my apartment. I've always made stuff and I always will because it gives me peace and energy at the same time.
I make what I like and what I enjoy making. I strive for expression in my work, not perfection (that part is hard sometimes). I am consistently drawn to all that is bold and graphic. I love rambunctious color palettes, optical illusions, repetition and insane amounts of detail. I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid I would lay my Crayolas on the floor in rainbow order, and then proceed to color each word in the expired TV Guide a different color, until it was just pages and pages of rainbows.
Besides all of that stuff, I also like: vintage buttons, wrapping paper, fabric, typography, small towns (Stars Hollow), ric rac, daisies, cats, books, and super long walks. I dream of someday owning a house that has a porch, a huge lush yard, a fireplace and a basement. Until then I'll make do with my rental here in LA, which is very nice in it's own rentalish sort of way.
My two favorite concerts that I ever went to were: Wilco, Santa Barbara Bowl, August 26, 2007 and David Byrne, Greek Theater, October 3, 2008. In that order.
